Mana Village – Vasudhara Falls

The quaint village of Mana is located at a short distance from Badrinath, and easily accessible by a short walk. This enchanting village is the perfect place to spend some idle time and to explore the beauty of the region. The green meadows, the captivating mountains, and the little huts, all come together to make for a charming scenery here at the Mana Village.

The highlight of this village is the scintillating Vasudhara Falls. This eternal waterfall cascades down a height of 12,000 feet with such elegance and regal. If you look at it from a distance, you will feel as if white milk is from a mountain making it look even more fascinating and unique. A very popular legend believes that the water drop from this waterfall will only fall on people who are pure of heart and without any sins. It doesn’t fall on offenders.

You can also visit the wonderful Bheem Pul while you are at the Mana Village.

This little village is not only refreshing but will also give you a much-needed rest before for your Badrinath excursion.

Mata-Murti-Mandir

If you are still in that holy religious mood, then visit the Mata Murti Mandir located about 3 km from Badrinath. This temple is dedicated to the mother of Lord Badrinath. Situated in Mana Village, you can make a quick stop at this temple and offer your blessings.

Pandukeshwar

As the name suggests, Pandukeshwar was established by the father of the Pandavas- King Pandu. This dreamy destination is located about 24 km from Badrinath and is a great place to visit on your way to Badrinath.

This enchanting little hamlet as two temples that are supposedly centuries old. The temples are dedicated to Lord Yoga Badri Narayan and Lord Vasudev respectively. You can visit these temples and explore this village a little more before resuming your journey to Badrinath.

Satopanth Lake

This serene lake is located at Satopanth which is also the path that leads to Swargarohini peak. This azure lake is a sight to behold and a great destination to explore on your Badrinath Yatra. The Satopanth lake has a great significance in Hindu mythology as well, since, is said to be the point where Bheem was refused entry to heaven.

Once you reach the Satopanth lake you will be mesmerised by the breathtaking views that it offers. You will be surrounded by snow-covered mountains as the crystal clear lake gently rests at the centre. Satopanth has no houses for accommodation, so you should carry your tent if you wish to take some rest here. Alternatively, there are some so caves wherein you can sleep for the night.

Joshimath

Joshimath is located at a distance of 46 km from Badrinath. A small day trip to Joshimath is a great way to start your Badrinath sojourn.

Guru Adi Shankaracharya founded this math. Joshimath is also extremely significant since it houses Shri Badrinath during the winters when the main Badrinath temple remains closed due to heavy snowfall.

Joshimath also has an enchanting cable car ride till Auli. If you have the time, then you must experience this cable car ride. The stunning sights will enthrall you throughout the ride. There is something so surreal when the cable car travels above the clouds, and all you can see is a sea of fluffy white clouds and mountain peaks trying to emerge from those clouds, below you.

While at Joshimath you cal also visits the Narsingh temple and the Kalpavirksha Temple.

Chenab Valley

The virgin valley of Chenab is still relatively untouched and rests in the beautiful hands of nature.

Located about 29 km from Joshimath, the Chenab Valley is a dream come true for nature lovers and explorers. This unexplored valley is brimming with joy and is covered with flowers and lush meadows that goes on and on till it merges with the horizon.

This valley is often visited by travellers on their way to Badrinath, as they enjoy the stunning views of the wide variety of vibrant flowers that covers this place like a blanket. You will also witness some stunning views of the mountain peaks that seem to be giving a warm hug to the valley

Tapt-Kund

Located just below the Badrinath Temple, the Tapt Kund is a must-visit the place. This is also a hot sulphur spring, wherein you can dip and instantly feel at peace. Is there anything more wonderful than visiting the Badrinath Temple and then taking a much-needed break by dipping into the hot spring water?

If you are suffering from some skin disease then you must dip into the water. The lake has great medicinal properties which can cure skin diseases.

Another hot water spring is the Narad Kund which is located near the Tapt Kund. Many people believe that the Badrinath idol had first emerged in the Narad Kund. Most of the pilgrims and devotees take a dip into this relaxing Kund before entering the Badrinath Temple.

Tapovan Hot Water Spring

While you are visiting Joshimath, you can also take a slight detour to visit the magical waters of Tapovan. Located about 10 km from Joshimath, the Tapovan Hot Water Spring is the perfect way to unwind.

This hot water spring is actually due to the sulphur that is present all around the area. Once you reach here, you can take an idyllic dip into the water and enjoy the lovely experience. After all, what is more, exciting and peaceful than dipping into some hot water after a long day’s trek. The water also has some great healing properties and many travellers decide to take a dip just to cure your body pain.
