Kainchi Dham lies 17 kms away from the main city of Nainital at Nanital-Almora road near Bhowali. The temple popularly known as Kainchi Mandir/ Kainchi Dham/ Neem Karoli Ashram is situated at an elevation of 4600 ft above sea level in a small beautiful village called Kainchi.

Kainchi Mandir is devoted to Baba Neem Karoli, a saint who dedicated his whole life to bring happiness and joy in the lives of his followers. On 25 May 1962, Baba Neem Karoli established Kainchi Dham. Baba Neem Karoli was a follower of Lord Hanuman.

Born in 1900 C.E in a Brahman family in Akbarpur, Uttar Pradesh, Baba Neem Karoli’s original name was Lakshmi Narayan Sharma. At the age of 17, he attained enlightenment and adopted ascetic life and dedicated the rest of his life for the public welfare. Respectfully people used to call him Maharaj-Ji.

The noble teachings and courteous attitude of Baba Neem Karoli attracted people of all religions. Baba Neem Karoli has his followers all through the nation and worldwide including celebrities, high profile personalities and business tycoons. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, former president of India V.V. Kainchi Fair

Every year on 15 June, a big fair is organized in the Kainchi temple where people from distant locations arrive to visit the temple and the ashram. On the same a grand feast (Bandhara) is prepared, feeding to more than one lakh people.

Reaching Kainchi Mandir

Kainchi is a colorful town near Bhowali, Uttarkhand and is well connected to roadways. One can take a cab, taxi or bus to reach directly to Kainchi. Railways and airways are not accessible to the town.

Where to stay

The ashram inside the temple complex provides you with rooms to stay for which you have to register yourselves through prior mail or letter. There are barely any hotel rooms in Kainchi. You can get rooms at Bhowali or Nainital.

Best time to visit

Kainchi Dham is open for visitation all year. Venerators can pay their visit to the temple at any month. However, the timing for visiting the temple varies season-to-season. The temple in winters is open from 7 a.m.-6 p.m and during summers it is from 6 a.m-7 p.m.
